My First Ever MomTribe Meetup

June 29, 2019With Love, From Sza

One of the changes I noticed when I became a mom is that I’ve been a lot more inclined to staying at home and tending to my family than going out and meeting new people. Perhaps, due to some circumstances, I now feel better being alone than having a number of people around me.

But then I started blogging, since then, I have this excitement to meet new people and gain new friends. However, every time an event comes up, I chicken out and hide myself in the bedroom and I end up not attending the events.

Last week, I got a message from Mommy Dette of Millennial Moms Ph to join the #MomTribe meetup. I jumped the gun to accept the invite and see for myself what this popular mom event is all about.

Slots are limited for this event and Moms rush to get a slot every time an announcement has been made for an upcoming #MomTribeMeetUp. I’ve always wanted to go to one but Hello anxiety!

The event happened last Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Eastwood Mall Atrium with the theme: “Languages of Love.”

I went there with Tee and Dreu and we arrived at the event 30 minutes before the starting time. I don’t wanna be late and I don’t want to miss the juicy stuff of the event. I already saw early bird moms and I felt a little nervous, okay I’m lying. I felt VERY nervous and at the same time, excited.

I searched for my name at the front desk and I got my loot bag! And boy was it heavy! They weren’t lying when they said that this was a very generous event!

Booths are already open giving out freebies. Aside from the items inside the loot bag, all the Moms who attended the event got great samples from Johnson’s Baby, Sweet Baby Diapers, Betadine, Tempra, and Lemon Square Cheese Cakes.

Mommy Rhona Remo speaking to us about The Five Love Languages.

The speaker of the event is Mommy Rhona Remo. She spoke to us about Dr. Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages. I heard about this author before I never went in-depth in reading his books.

Apparently, I have learned that there are 5 love languages namely:

  1. Words of Affirmation
  2. Quality Time
  3. Receiving Gifts
  4. Acts of Service
  5. Physical Touch

Moms and Dads who attended the event were thrilled to know that we all speak our own love language and knowing what they are helped a lot in understanding our partners because they might speak a different love language as we do. It is very helpful to rekindle the spark we have for our spouses and sometimes gets dimmed by challenges and hardships.

Lately, Tee and I were having misunderstandings and I find it hard to really understand him most especially when guys talk less than us, girls. Mommy Rhona’s talk allows us to understand what the other person’s love language is, which apparently was “Words of Affirmation” and mine was “Quality Time.”

After the talk, we were served with generous snacks that I forgot to take photos of because I was really hungry. At that moment, we were able to mingle and talk with other moms. Small talk is my nemesis. I hate it so much. But when you meet people who speak the same language that you do, the awkward silence was replaced with friendly smiles.

After a short break, the volunteers of the event prepared fun games for everyone. It was so amusing that I was able to make new friends out of it. What I initially thought was hard was actually easier than I expected. It wasn’t hard making new friends from the event because we all relate from one another.

If you’re a mom like me who are having trouble making new friends and meeting new people, I think I found the best event to go to.

Ping me if you wanna go and we’ll see each other there, I swear, It’ll be fun!

You can check the upcoming MomTribe Events through their announcements on Facebook and Instagram Pages.

It was a very enjoyable event and I am so excited for more.
