Make Chocolate Pancake Using Regular Pancake Mix

March 6, 2019With Love, From Sza

Happy International Pancake Day! In lieu of this special holiday, which I truly celebrate. Who would miss it? It’s pancake people! P-A-N-C-A-K-E! I’d be sharing a simple secret recipe that I do to transform our regular pancakes to chocolate ones.

Pancake is my family’s fave snack. We love having it every now and then. But sometimes, I’d like to mix things up and instead of having my regular pancake with maple syrup, we use hazelnut spread or add cocoa mix instead.

I always use Magnolia Plus for my Pancake Mix

Grab your regular pancake mix, I prefer Magnolia Plus. Its batter doesn’t stick to the pan. Pour it on a large mixing bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, I use Ricoa Breakfast Cocoa. Add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness. Then for fluffier pancakes, you can add egg even when the box says you don’t have to. It’s really up to you. 😉

Add 3/4 cups water, this is for 1 pack of pancake mix. Mix them up. Don’t worry, it’s easy to get the lumps out. No tired arms!(That’s what I love about the Magnolia Pancake Mix *ehem* *ehem*)

So the secret really is adding the cocoa powder in the mix. It was my first time and it turned out really good, plus the salt balances the flavor. I personally love adding cocoa powder even on my coffee or in a cake mix.

This is actually a great opportunity to bond with your kids. You can ask them to help mix the batter or crack the eggs. Dreu enjoys it so much, I let him mix before I add the liquid ingredients, but of course, he eats some of the pancake mix. It’s like a little game time for us.

Some of the pancakes we made. Dreu ate the little ones I made. 😂
lickin’ his fingers because it’s incredilicious (incredible + delish ) 😂 💛

So, why not try and be a little extra and turn your regular pancake mix to a Special Chocolate Pancake. Your kids would love it. Chocolate? Who doesnt?
